Elevating Fireplace Charm With Custom Built-Ins

We recently completed a custom fireplace built-in cabinets project that brought both function and charm to our client’s living space. Crafted in our cabinet shop, these cabinets were sprayed with an industrial, Italian, 2k, water-based polyurethane, resulting in a finish more durable than factory standards.

Character and Coziness

The client’s initial need was to fill the space next to the fireplace, creating a simple yet elegant area for displaying photos and decorations. However, the project presented several challenges. The ceiling was significantly out of level, so we decided to hold the crown moulding down from the ceiling to achieve a balanced look. Additionally, transitioning from the built-in to the brick hearth required careful attention to aesthetics.

Completing this project demanded precise measuring and planning from the outset, along with extensive knowledge of cabinet making in a shop setting. Understanding that walls are never perfectly straight during installation was crucial to ensure a seamless fit and finish.

The customer was delighted with the finished project, particularly appreciating how it added character and coziness to the room. The custom-built cabinets not only provided a functional space for photos and decorations but also enhanced the overall ambiance of the living area.
